
Wayne was an investor before receiving his first real
estate license in 1976 in Virginia. He practiced residential
real estate first in VA. and D.C. on a part-time basis,
while running a national energy conservation program for
the Carter Administration. He later worked for the late
Senator John Heinz and continued investing and selling
real estate part-time. He soon realized that there was
more money in real estate than in working for Uncle Sam.
He has also been licensed in Maine, Massachusetts and
now in California. When he moved to Maine in 1986, he
began commercial real estate sales as a full-time career.
He owned half of a commercial brokerage in Bath, Maine.
In 1987, Wayne sold his first $5 mil transaction, the
largest apartment project in Bath. In the early 80's,
Wayne lived in Europe with his spouse, Rita, who is from
Switzerland. He has always enjoyed Europe and all that
it has to offer. Wayne received his CCIM designation in
1988.
Wayne has spent time in the construction industry as
a licensed electrician and does his own plumbing, carpentry,
etc. Wayne also served as an officer in the Corps of Engineers.
He has visited Southern California many times in the
past and moved to Palm Springs in 2003 to take advantage
of the weather, lifestyle, and the best real estate market
in the world. Wayne now specializes in land sales &
investments and uses his CCIM
skills to be able to go into an area and quickly understand
the market.
Wayne became a Certified Estate Advisor this year (CEA),
to learn how to help his clients reduce or eliminate capital
gains tax when selling their properties. He is affiliated
with NAFEP (National Institute Association of Financial
and Estate Planners) and uses their tested, IRS approved
programs, to both save his clients taxes they would otherwise
pay at closing and to provide asset and lawsuit protection
many real estate owners lack.
With the help of his wife Rita's language skills, Wayne
plans to assist European investors place money in Southern
California real estate where they can earn a far higher
return than is possible in most European investments.
Wayne's personal investment specialty is single-family
homes. He typically does most of the rehab with his own
hands. He has personally rehabbed over 30 homes in five
states. Other investments have included numerous apartments,
a large storage project in NY, etc. He has also assembled
commercial sites, one in Maine that became a Wal-Mart,
Wendy's, Super 8 Motel, etc.
Wayne's passion is sport fishing. "Take me somewhere
that I can do battle with a fish bigger than me and you
will be my fishing buddy forever."
